WE ARE HIRING- Weekend/evening/overnight sitter

We are a professional dog walking and pet sitting company growing our team. We have been in business for 3 years and are growing fast. Currently, we have 6 pet sitters and over 200 clients. Dogs range from tiny “toy” breeds to 100+ lbs and strong/energetic (plus cats, birds, fish, and small mammals). All of our services are private (meaning no walking a pack of dogs from several households). This is not a boarding facility. We travel to each client’s home and take care of the pets on the premises. We also provide over-night sitting, where the sitter stays at the home over night. Occasionally, we transport pets to the groomer or vet. We also provide house sitting services and poop scooping.
About the Job:
Pet Sitters visit clients in their homes to take care of dogs, cats, and other pets. Typical visits last 20-30 minutes. Many clients require a brisk walk, although others request fetch in the yard or indoor play. You will also provide feeding, fresh water, liter box cleaning, and medication administration.
Must be available for overnight sitting. This is usually an average of a few nights per month, although the schedule varies based on client needs. Also, Monday through Friday from 5-10pm, most weekends, and 1-3 holidays per year (your preference will be strongly considered). We will also happily assign you hours on weekdays from 7am-5pm, but availability is not required during this time. This makes this a great position if you have a day job!
Pay is “per visit,” $9 for 30 minute visits, $8 for 20 minute visits (there are shorter and longer visits as well), which may amount to $300-450/week for our midday sitters, but depends on your schedule.
We train new walkers for approximately 2 days, paid at the same rate. Immediate start if possible.
REQUIREMENTS (read all of these):
1- Experience with dogs and other animals. Personal experience is acceptable, but professional experience (walker, vet assistant, shelter volunteer, etc.- even pet sitting for family, friends or neighbors) is a plus. Must love dogs, cats, and other pets.
2- Must live in our service area. We service Pequannock, Pompton Plains, Wayne, Riverdale, Bloomingdale, Haskell, Butler, Kinnelon, Montville, Pinebrook, Towaco, and Lincoln Park, so it is preferable that you live in one of those towns, or very close by.
3- Hours (MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THESE HOURS): Must be available for occasional overnights; Monday through Friday from 5-10pm; most weekends, and 1-3 holidays per year. We will also happily assign you hours on weekdays from 9-5, but availability is not required during this time.
4- Must have reliable transportation. This means your own vehicle with insurance and a drivers license.
5- Must have a smart phone. You will be required to download our scheduling app and enable GPS tracking during your work hours. Must be willing to use your personal phone to review your schedule and communicate with clients during work.
6- Must consent to a background check, provide references, and sign a confidentiality/non-compete agreement.
7- Must be reliable, punctual, able to work independently and able to follow directions.
8- You MUST be able to handle strenuous physical activity and be comfortable with dogs of all sizes and comfortable handling multiple dogs at one time. Some of our clients are over 100 lbs, or have 2 dogs to be walked together that are very large, and you will be expected to walk several miles per shift. Most of our time is spent outside, so you must be tolerant of all weather conditions.
